Taimyr 1995
In August 1995 our company
organized and carried out an international expedition
to Taimyr Peninsula and Severnaya Zemlya Archipelago.
The goal of the expedition was to carry our reconnaissance
observations for subsequent selection of a site for
international glaciological studies. The expedition
consisted of German, Japanese and Russian scientists.
During the trip Levigson-Lessing Lake on Taimyr Peninsula
was visited. There we met another German Russian field
team that studied tundra. Later, we passed by Taimyr
Lake to Cheluskin Cape and flew to "Prima"
station on Bolshevik Island. From that place a few flights
on helicopters were carried out to islands Oktyabrskoy
Revolutsii and Komsomolets. After the program was complete
the expedition members returned to St. Petersburg with
intermediate landing on Dikson Island. Basing on the
reconnaissance results a site for future drilling for
paleo-climatological studies on Akademii Nauk Ice Cap
on Komsomolets Island was selected.
