Severnaya Zemlya 1999-2000
In the period 1999-2001
"EcoShelf" organized and carried out a 3-season
long German-Russian glaciological expedition to Akademii
Nauk Ice Cap on Komsomolets Island in Severnaya Zemlya
Archipelago. The main task of the expedition was extraction
of the ice core for subsequent study and reconstruction
of paleo-climate and evolution of the Environment in
Eurasian Arctic. During 3 seasons a borehole throughout
the ice cap had been drilled and the ice core samples
altogether 725 m long had been obtained. After each
season our company organized storage and transportation
of solid ice core to Germany for laboratory analysis.
