Thermal Drilling Equipment
"EcoShelf" Company
has got a specialized thermal drilling equipment of
own production (ETI-40) for drilling sea ice cover,
icebergs and glaciers. Its advantage compared to other
existing units is in new construction of the drilling
head reducing lateral heat loss, increasing endurance
of the heater, and higher accuracy of ice thickness
and consolidation measurements.
Electric power supply is provided from a portable 3
kW generator. Stabilizing and power regulation is carried
out with the help of a special control panel.
The thermal drilling equipment has been
tested in Arctic field expeditions. It showed reliability
and convenience in field work. It is suggested for drilling
different ice formations to determine ice thickness
and ice consolidation.
